Just finished watching this documentary Soul Power. It’s a behind the scenes look at the three day music festival in Zaire in 1974 that happened around the same time as the Ali & Foreman fight. Apparently it’s left over footage from the documentary When We Were Kings which is only about the fight. The music festival included James Brown, The Spinners, Bill Withers, Celia Cruz, as well as many African musicians. I’m surprised it took over 20 years to release the footage, but I thought it was worth it. If you ever come across it (or if Centric repeats it soon) I recommend watching it.
